# Salted Caramel Carmelitas

## Ingredients

- 225 g rolled oats
- 250 g plain flour
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 350 g brown sugar
- 250 g butter, melted

### Caramel

- 0.5 tsp salt
- 397 g caramel (carnations brand)
- 125 g dark chocolate, chopped into chunks
- 125 g milk chocolate, chopped into chunks

## Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 180 °C and line a 9x9 inch baking tin with baking paper.
2. In a large bowl, combine 225g of rolled oats, 250g of plain flour, 0.25 tsp of sea salt, and 350g of light soft brown sugar.
3. Stir in the 250g of unsalted butter.
4. Spoon about 2/3 of the mixture into the lined baking tin and press down with a spoon.
5. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes until golden.
6. In a small bowl mix the 0.5 tsp of sea salt into the 397g of caramel.
7. Remove the baking tin from the oven and sprinkle over the 125g of dark chocolate and 125g of milk chocolate.
8. Drizzle over the salted caramel and make sure it is spread evenly.
9. Crumble over the remaining oat topping and bake for 15 minutes.
10. Check whether the topping is golden, then bake for up to another 5 minutes if needed.
11. Melt a little extra dark chocolate and drizzle over the top, then add a pinch of sea salt.
12. Leave to cool for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
