# PDR 005: Give agents direct access to every major public page

- Project: Personal Knowledge Graph
- Status: Accepted

- Decided: 2026-06-12

## Context

Agents can help research, maintain, and navigate the public graph only when
they can retrieve its content reliably. Browser HTML mixes the record with
navigation, styling, interactive controls, and material hidden behind tabs.
Command-line tools and coding agents may need browser automation or lose part
of the page.

The repository already stores the source as MDX and knows the relationships
between content records. It can publish an agent-friendly representation from
the same source instead of maintaining a second body of prose.

## Decision

Give agents and text-first readers direct access to every major public page.
Publish a canonical plain-Markdown twin at the same URL with a `.md` suffix,
index the available pages in `/llms.txt`, and provide `/llms-full.txt` for
consumers that need one bounded corpus.

The agent-friendly form must identify the same record and expose the same
public claims as the HTML page. Preserve headings, links, useful image
descriptions, code, diagrams, and structured facts. Remove browser controls and
private presenter notes. Convert interactive content to useful text where
possible and label a genuine omission.

## Consequences

Agents can retrieve, cite, compare, and propose changes to public content
without driving a browser. Content hidden behind browser tabs becomes directly
addressable, and text-first readers gain the same route.

Every new major page type needs an agent-friendly representation and
validation. Generated output can expose material accidentally if a component
uses visual hiding as a privacy boundary. The public source must make the
disclosure boundary explicit.

## Evaluation

An agent should be able to start at `/llms.txt`, retrieve each indexed page,
identify its canonical HTML route, and recover the public claims needed to
understand or maintain it. Links must resolve and private content must remain
absent.

## Migration note

This record preserves the agent-access decision delivered on 2026-06-12 by
pull request 544. The static generation, MDX, and content-graph ADRs predate and
informed it. Creating the PDR adds decision provenance but does not change the
published Markdown contract.
