# Personalized Medicine

> Making patient-specific treatment decisions faster and more accessible through pathology, genomics, and bioinformatics

- Projects: 5

## Goal

Reduce the cost, delay, and specialist effort needed to match patients with appropriate tests and treatments.

## Scope

The computational pathology projects extract signals and usable tissue regions from whole slide images. The bioinformatics platform gives researchers a shared environment for combining those results with genomic and other omic data.

These projects took different routes, but each made biological or clinical data more useful for patient-specific decisions.

## Projects advancing this goal

- [AI-Assisted Macrodissection Runtime](https://robbiepalmer.me/projects/ai-assisted-macrodissection.md): Introduced a human-in-the-loop workflow that reduced the time pathologists spent identifying tissue regions for genetic analysis.
- [Genomic Prediction from Histology](https://robbiepalmer.me/projects/genomic-prediction.md): Tested whether routine H&E images could reveal genomic status directly, reducing dependence on separate molecular tests.
- [Automated Tumor Macrodissection](https://robbiepalmer.me/projects/automated-macrodissection.md): Extended tissue selection into an automated workflow designed to improve the consistency of samples sent for genetic testing.
- [Bioinformatics Research Platform](https://robbiepalmer.me/projects/bioinformatics-platform.md): Connected pathology outputs with genomic and other omic data so researchers could investigate patient-specific signals in one environment.
- [Pathology Viewer](https://robbiepalmer.me/projects/pathology-viewer.md): Made whole-slide images and model outputs inspectable, giving pathologists a practical interface for reviewing computational results.
